Recent research underscores the significant impact of dietary choices on the immune system’s ability to combat cancer. A notable study published in JAMA Internal Medicine analyzed data from over 220,000 participants over several decades, focusing on the consumption of butter and plant-based oils. The findings revealed that higher butter intake was associated with an increased risk of early death, particularly from cancer, while higher consumption of plant-based oils, such as olive, canola, and soybean oils, correlated with a reduced risk of early death, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. Importantly, substituting butter with plant-based oils could lower the risk of early death by 17%.
These results align with broader dietary recommendations aimed at cancer prevention. The European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) study, one of the largest cohort studies on diet and disease, has consistently shown that diets rich in plant-based foods and low in saturated fats are associated with a reduced risk of various cancers. By adopting a diet that emphasizes plant-based oils over animal fats, individuals can enhance their immune system’s capacity to fight cancer and improve overall health outcomes. Click for More Details
